Frequently Asked Questions

What is Life Catalyst Program?
Life Catalyst Program is a fully scripted curriculum complete with PowerPoint's and syllabus that can be used to teach life skills and life management courses. It is being used to offer both seminars in your community and court mandated classes to those on probation or wishing to avoid a prison sentence. It can be a source of income for your organization in the form of weekly fees paid by those enrolled in your course. It also enables your organization access to public and private grants.
Does the program have to be taught in order?
No. Life Catalyst Program is modular in nature. You can adapt the materiel to your course needs. You may combine chapters to lengthen a course or use part of a chapter to shorten a course. Modules 1 and 2 are self help modules that are well suited to add to any course.
Do I have to develop my own material for this program?
No. This is a fully scripted curriculum with PowerPoint's and syllabus. The material is broken down into sessions that generally take about 45 minutes to teach and allows 15 minutes for discussion. Questions for discussion are provided. We do encourage your instructors to substitute relevant stories from their lives for illustrations in the curriculum, but this is not necessary.
Can I make copies of the material?
Yes. The material is copyrighted but permission is given to make copies of all materials for your entities use. We also extend permision to copy the data disc to be given to judicial, probation and social entities for the purpose of review for approval, endorsements and refferals. We encourage every instructor to have a copy of the data disc for their use.
Is Life Catalyst Program only intended for parolees or those wishing to avoid a prison sentence?
No. While Life Catalyst Program is ideally suited for those individuals, it is equally ideally suited for offering classes to your community and to those in your organization. It is also being used by referrals from HR departments and various social agencies.
What is the purpose of the certification?
We certify individual instructors so they will be recognized by court systems, parole boards and social agencies. Many of these entities recquire that a program's instructors go through a training process and are familiar with the contents of the curriculum.
What does the certification process entail?
We provide a 2 disc set of DVD's that the instrutors view. These certification DVD's contain an introduction to the program, a session on Mentoring, a complete overview of all the modules and intructions and tips on teaching the curriculum. If, after viewing the DVD's, you have further questions, we will answer them in a timely manner. After all of the instructors questions have been answered and their names provided, we will send each instructor a certificate.
How many people on my staff can be certified?
You may certify as many people on your staff that you desire as long as they watch the certification DVD's. You may also certify any additional instructors as your staffing needs change.
Do I have access to future updates?
Yes. We provide free electronic updates to the program. Current chapters and modules in development are Grand-Parenting, Stress Management, Post Traumatic Stress Management, and Youth.
How do I get the courts, parole boards, or social agencies in my area to refer people to my program?
Every state, county and municipality is different. Generally, you prepare a package containing an introduction letter with details of your program (where you meet, what times, your course offerings and list of instructors), copies of your instructors certificates and a copy of the data disc provided with the program. Consistency is the key to referrals. You must maintain the schedule of courses you are offering to be considered for court referrals. Also, stress the length of your courses. Courts are recognizing that 12 week programs are inneffective and desire longer courses for sentence offenders.
